79th Independence Day Celebration - Pre-KG to Class II

The Gonzagaites of the Kindergarten section and Classes I & II celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm through a special programme held on 19 August 2025.

The Chief Guest, Principal Rev. Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ, in his address, reminded the young students that Independence Day is a national festival celebrated by all Indians. He urged them to draw inspiration from the freedom fighters, remain consistent in their efforts, work as a team, and contribute to building the nation through education and dedication.

Vice Principal and Kindergarten Coordinator, Ms Aparna Suresh, highlighted the significance of the National Flag, explaining that Saffron stands for courage, White for peace, Green for prosperity, and the Ashoka Chakra as a symbol of progress. She encouraged students to live by the values of kindness, helpfulness, and responsible global citizenship.

The cultural programme featured enactments of freedom fighters, a video presentation, and dance that vividly portrayed the struggles of the freedom movement and India’s journey to independence. Winners of various competitions held in connection with Independence Day were awarded with certificates and trophies.

The event was coordinated by Ms Sushrutha M P, Ms Reema D’Souza R, Ms Patricia S.R. D’Souza, and Ms Clara Maria. The programme began with a welcome by Jaden Mathew Salins (Class II B), was compered by Christina Alice Nazareth (Class II D) and Pihhu (Class II C), and concluded with a vote of thanks by Michael Solomon Mauran Lobo (Class II D). The celebration ended on a sweet note with the distribution of sweets to all.
