
The Student Council of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, along with the students of Classes X and XII, organised a meaningful and vibrant Teachers’ Day celebration on 6 September 2025. The event was graced by Padma Shri awardee Shri Harekala Hajabba as the Chief Guest and Fr Henry Saldanha SJ, Superior of ‘Asha Kiran’, Mangaluru, as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Principal Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ, the Vice Principals, and members of the Parent-Teacher Executive Committee (PTEC). In his address, Shri Hajabba narrated his inspiring life journey, recalling the struggles he overcame to bring education to his village. He expressed his gratitude to the government for recognising his efforts with the Padma Shri and conveyed his best wishes to the school management, Principal, staff, and students. The Guest of Honour, Fr Henry Saldanha, described teachers as guiding lights and true architects of society, while the Principal, Fr Rohan D’Almeida, urged students to remain grateful to their teachers who nurture the flame of knowledge and shape their lives. As a mark of respect, the Principal felicitated both the guest with a garland, Mysore Peta, shawl, and memento.
The celebration began with the ceremonial entry of teachers, a prayer song, lighting of the lamp, and a warm welcome. Cultural programmes followed, including dances, a skit, orchestra, poem recitation by Rachel Iona Alvares of Class X, a dance by the student council, and a Teachers’ Sports Day video, along with prize distribution, felicitation of the Chief Guest, and inspiring speeches. In the afternoon, the PTEC organised a teachers’ day celebration during which the Principal and teachers were felicitated with token of appreciation.
The PTEC programme was anchored by Ms Reena Dominica Noronha, the Vice President of PTEC. Reflections were shared by Amitha Dsouza, parent of Keegan Shane Albert (Class XA), and Dr Bennet Anchan, parent of Mikacle Grace Anchan (Class VII B), while Susan Sylvia Dsouza, parent of Aiden Isaias Dsouza (Class III C), proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration came to a close with a fellowship meal, which further strengthened the bond between teachers, students, and parents. The programme was coordinated by Ms Sandhya Manoj, Ms Jisha V Thomas, Ms Deepa Elizabeth Karkada, and Ms Sheethal Roshelle Dsouza.
