On 20th September 2025, St Aloysius Gonzaga School hosted the first-ever friendly match between Class XI and Class XII, an event that generated great excitement among the senior secondary students. The match was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Fr. Rohan D Almeida SJ, along with the Vice Principals, Ms Laurel Dsouza and Ms Aparna Suresh, the Class XI & XII Coordinator, Ms Deepa Karkada, staff members and the PE teachers.
In his address, the Principal highlighted the importance of sports, teamwork and healthy competition, encouraging students to play with true spirit and enthusiasm. He also remarked that the occasion was a historic moment for the school, as such a match was being organised for the very first time. The competitions included throw ball, football and tug of war, with both teams displaying skill, determination, and sportsmanship. The enthusiastic cheering of the audience added to the vibrant atmosphere. The winners and runners-up were as follows:
Throwball: Winners – Class XII Girls
Runners-up – Class XI Girls
Football: Winners – Class XII Boys
Runners-up – Class XI Boys
Girls Tug of War : Winners – Class XI
Runners-up – Class XII
Boys Tug of War: Winners – Class XI
Runners-up – Class XII
And the overall championship was bagged by Class XI students. The event concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony. The friendly match proved to be a truly memorable occasion, fostering unity, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the students.
