The collaborative online programme titled “Celebrating Differences, Building Unity – Connecting South Zone Jesuit Schools” was conducted on 13 February 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from various Jesuit institutions across South India.
The event was graced by the presence of Fr John Ravi SJ, Conference Secretary of School Jesuit Education, along with the Province Secretaries for School Education of Madurai, Kerala, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. The respected principals of Loyola School Kozhikode, Loyola School Thiruvananthapuram, St Joseph's School Bengaluru, St Mary's Higher Secondary School Madurai, Loyola Academy CBSE Senior Secondary School Chengalpattu, and St Aloysius Gonzaga School Mangaluru attended the programme, along with vice principals, teachers, and students.
The programme began with a prayer song led by the students of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangaluru, invoking God’s blessings for the success of the event. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by the student representative, Amra Fatima of Class VIII.
The significance of the theme was beautifully explained by Uthara Nidheesh of Class IX from Loyola School Kozhikode, highlighting how unity grows stronger when diversity is respected and celebrated.
The event showcased a variety of cultural presentations, including a poem recitation by Doreen Sarah Sampath of Class XI from Loyola School Thiruvananthapuram, a unity quotes relay by St Joseph's School Bengaluru, a regional song on peace by St Mary's Higher Secondary School Madurai, and a patriotic dance performance by Loyola Academy CBSE Senior Secondary School Chengalpattu.
Each presentation reflected the richness of India’s culture and the spirit of harmony among Jesuit schools.
A key highlight of the programme was the inspiring address by Fr John Ravi SJ, who emphasised the importance of collaboration, mutual respect, and service in building a united community through teamwork and shared responsibility.
Fr Rohan D' Almeida SJ further emphasised the importance of Jesuit institutions coming together to foster greater closeness and strengthen unity across South India. He described the initiative as a noble endeavour aimed at promoting cordial relationships and building enduring bonds of collaboration among the institutions. He also noted that the institutions of South India function under the flagship of the South Zone Jesuit Province, united in their shared vision, mission, and spirit of service.
The event concluded with the reading of the Preamble, reaffirming the shared vision and commitment of all participating schools, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Zara Khazi of Class VIII.
The programme was a meaningful and memorable experience that strengthened the bond among South Zone Jesuit schools. It truly reflected the spirit of celebrating differences and building unity.
