The students of St. Aloysius Gonzaga School actively participated in a tree plantation drive on 28 June 2026 as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and awareness. The programme was jointly organized by the Sahaya Club and the Eco Club in collaboration with the Bantwal Forest Department.
A total of 44 students from Classes XI and XII, accompanied by five teachers, enthusiastically took part in the programme. The Eco Club was guided by its coordinators, Mrs. Deepa Karkada and Mrs. Lavanya Shetty, while the Sahaya Club was led by Mrs. Tanuja and Mrs. Raksha. Mr. Vinod, the Physical Education teacher, also extended his support throughout the activity. The programme was coordinated by environmental volunteer Mr. Mark Pereira.
The plantation drive was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Prakash Shetty, Deputy Range Forest Officer, and other officials from the Bantwal Forest Department. Besides planting saplings, the students gained valuable insights into afforestation, biodiversity, and the importance of environmental conservation. The programme inspired them to recognize their role in increasing green cover and protecting nature, while fostering a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
The Principal, Rev. Fr. Rohan D'Almeida, SJ, congratulated the Forest Department officials, teachers, and students for their enthusiastic participation and appreciated their collective efforts towards environmental conservation.
