Report on the Faculty Induction programme for newly recruited Staff

A faculty induction programme was conducted for the newly appointed staff members of St. Aloysius Gonzaga School. The sessions focused on familiarizing participants with the vision, mission, values, and administrative structure of the institution.

Fr. Balaraju SJ, Secretary and treasurer of MJES provided an overview of the management structure of the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES), service rules, staff welfare measures, leave policies, performance appraisal, and professional responsibilities. He emphasized academic excellence, character formation, social responsibility, and adherence to institutional values.

Our Principal, Fr. Rohan D’Almeida SJ encouraged the staff to reflect on their expectations and responsibilities as educators. He discussed the importance of punctuality, professional ethics, innovative teaching methods, student-centered learning, and collaboration with parents and colleagues to enhance the teaching-learning process.

Ms. Aparna Suresh, Vice-principal of Pre-KG to Class V, highlighted the rich legacy of Jesuit education, the vision and mission of the institution, and the principles of Ignatian Pedagogy. She stressed the importance of holistic education, personal care for students, value-based teaching, and the role of teachers in shaping responsible citizens.

Ms. Laurel Dsouza, Vice-principal of Class VI to XII highlighted the importance of work–life balance, professional conduct, effective communication with parents, teamwork, and maintaining a positive and organized school environment. She encouraged staff members to build strong relationships with all stakeholders and stay informed through official communication channels.

Ms. Deepa Karkada provided an overview of the school’s assessment structure, examination procedures, and CBSE guidelines for different classes. She emphasized holistic student development, effective classroom management, the importance of balancing friendliness with discipline, and nurturing both the minds and hearts of students. She also encouraged teachers to maintain professionalism, foster positive student relationships, and seek support whenever required.

Mr. Shobith introduced the school’s digital management system and guided the staff on accessing the MJES Staff App and web portal. He explained the login process, digital record management, and the use of the platform for academic and administrative tasks, highlighting the institution’s commitment to a paperless and technology-enabled work environment.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, enabling the new staff members to gain a deeper understanding of the institution’s ethos and their role in upholding its educational mission.
