CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

The CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) was conducted on 30th May 2026 at St. Aloysius Gonzaga School. The programme was compered by Ms. Shamita Shetty and began with a prayer song, lighting of the lamp, welcome address by Ms. Shilpa Ballal, and introduction of the resource persons.

The Principal, Fr. Rohan D'Almeida SJ, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of Social Emotional Learning in fostering students' emotional well-being, life skills, and academic success.

Session I:
Ms. Vandana S. Nayak, HOD, Department of English, conducted a session on Promoting Mental Health and Well-being among Students. She highlighted the role of teachers as wellness ambassadors and stressed the importance of early identification and support of students' emotional needs.

Session II:
Ms. Vandana S. Nayak and Mr. Govindaraju K., Professional AI Trainer and CASEL Practitioner, introduced the concept of Social Emotional Learning and explained its five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Session III:
The resource persons guided teachers on Integrating SEL into Subject Teaching through practical strategies and activities, including the Map of Emotions, to enhance student engagement and problem-solving skills.

Session IV:
Mr. Govindaraju K. conducted a session on Assessing SEL Practices and Formulating an Action Plan. Teachers reflected on existing SEL practices in the school and explored ways to strengthen their implementation.

The programme was coordinated by Ms. Deepa Karkada. The sessions were informative and interactive, providing valuable insights into supporting students' holistic development. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Nisha Nambiar.
