
The Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola was celebrated with heartfelt enthusiasm on 30th July 2025 at the St. Aloysius Gonzaga School Hall. for the students of classes VI to XII. The event brought together the vibrant spirit of the school community to honour the life and values of the patron saint of the Jesuits. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Fr Ajay D’Silva SJ, administrator of Fathima Retreat House, Mangaluru. The Principal of the school, Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ and Vice Principal, Ms Laurel D’souza, graced the occasion.
Fr Ajay D'Silva mentioned ‘7 Cs’ - commitment, collaboration, and contemplation, to name a few - conveying the Ignatian spirit, and inspired the students by sharing how St. Ignatius’ life was transformed into one of service and devotion to God.
The Principal’s message encouraged students to emulate St. Ignatius’ values, cultivate determination, explore reading, and do all things for the greater glory of God.
The celebration featured a live demonstration creatively depicting the virtues and inspiring life of St. Ignatius, followed by a special song conveying God’s call to him. A skit highlighted the value of being men and women for and with others. A vibrant dance performance captured the youthful spirit and energy of the students. The audience also enjoyed a video presentation of the solo singing and online quiz competitions held in connection with the feast. Three participants of the singing competition performed live, adding to the joy of the gathering. Ms. Sushmitha Rachel Pinto introduced the Chief Guest, who was then felicitated by the dignitaries. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony, celebrating winners of the competitions and sports achievers.
The programme concluded with the school anthem. The celebration was a fitting tribute to St Ignatius of Loyola, leaving the students inspired to live with purpose, faith, and a spirit of service.
