Theme: Faith as Openness to the Other: A Connected Classroom for the Celebration of the Feast of Saint Ignatius
St. Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangaluru, participated in the Educate Magis Connected Classroom, a global virtual event celebrating the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The programme which was held on 16 July, brought together Jesuit and partner schools from India, Zimbabwe, Chile, and the Philippines to promote faith, dialogue, and global citizenship.
The session began with a welcome by Mr Felipe Revollo, Global Citizenship Coordinator at Educate Magis, followed by the opening prayer led by Ms Carol Tina Rodrigues of St. Aloysius Gonzaga School. The session was facilitated by Mr David Chamorro, Global Education Coordinator at Colegio San Ignacio, Chile, who led the reflections and interactive discussions. Participants also viewed the short film Snack Attack, which encouraged reflection on empathy, openness, and overcoming prejudice.
Representing the school, Class VIII students Vishnu Dev Pandey, Ashish N. Joshi, and Ayan Jithesh confidently shared their reflections on the film, highlighting the values of compassion, inclusivity, and respect for others. They also participated in an interactive dialogue with students from other countries, fostering meaningful cross-cultural learning.
Vice Principal Ms Aparna Suresh, Ms Shamitha Shetty, and Ms Sandhya Manoj were present throughout the session to guide, encourage, and support the students, ensuring their active and meaningful participation.
The programme concluded with a closing prayer and a virtual group photograph. The Connected Classroom was a meaningful experience that strengthened the Ignatian values of empathy, dialogue, and global citizenship while inspiring students to embrace diversity with openness and respect.
